Our Process
What goes into a kitchen design?
Schedule your free Design Consultation at Packard’s Kitchens to get an overview of cabinetry, countertops and the process needed to realize a new kitchen or bath. Bring photos and questions to ensure a thoughtful, educational and creative 60-90-minute session.
How do we start the design process?
With your wish-list established at the Design Consultation, a Packard’s designer is ready to measure your space or evaluate an architectural plan. As every project is unique, keep an open mind as we leverage our experience to provide you with the best possible layout to match your space and wish-list. You’ll see designs come to life in 3D views and receive a budget estimate for cabinetry.
Decision? Decisions!
With the decision to move forward with Packard’s, we’ll step you through your design to accessorize the cabinets, finalize a cabinet style, color(s) or stain, and select countertops and hardware. You’ll finalize your appliance and sink purchases which we’ll incorporate into your design for a final 3D view and exact price.
When do we order our cabinets?
With all decisions made, cabinet orders are started with a 50% deposit by personal check or cash.
How do we communicate the kitchen design with our contractor?
Packard’s Designers are pros at communicating with contractors and builders. We’ll provide large, easy-to-read schematic plans to ensure the contractor has all the information they need for a smooth installation.
When do the cabinets arrive?
Packard’s staff will contact you and/or your contractor once the cabinetry is ready. The final payment for your cabinetry is now due. Flooring should be installed, walls primed, ceilings painted and HVAC in working condition. If your space is not quite ready, Packard’s will provide short-term professional storage for your cabinetry at no cost to you.
When are countertops installed?
Once cabinets are in place, it’s time to template your countertop. Some contractors anticipate this date prior to cabinet installation. Your contractor calls Packard’s to schedule your template. At the time of templating, you must have your sink and faucet available onsite. 7-10 days later your countertops are installed and holes are drilled for your faucet(s).
