Two-tone cabinets.  Base and wall cabinets of different colors or island base cabinets with accent color. 

4. Single Most Important Piece Of Advice For Someone Starting A Kitchen Project:
Live in the space before you remodel, if possible. If not, hire a good designer who has seen it all!

An antique home with a Mansard roof in a tree-lined city neighborhood.  The kitchen would be quarter-sawn oak and painted maple cabinets in Cocoa Butter by Ben Moore, just steps from a secluded outdoor patio.

Palladium Blue, Ben Moore

3. Favorite Decorating Trend: 
Mixed metals. It's great to have a mix of metals to give your eyes a rest from all stainless appliances.

4. Single Most Important Piece Of Advice For Someone Starting A Kitchen Project:
Collect photos of kitchens you like and then sort them into categories.  Are most of the photos of white cabinets?  Did you focus on an island or peninsula?  Simple or detailed doors?  Cull the images to a small number, 3-5, and bring those to your kitchen design meeting.  This will help narrow down your choices and help you focus on all the other details that go into your space
